Overview

We’re currently looking for a strategic Procurement Manager to optimize our purchasing activities to lower product costs and improve profitability. You will work directly with suppliers, negotiate contracts and monitor orders. The Procurement Manager’s responsibilities include planning, coordinating and monitoring the purchase of products and materials to achieve project goals. We're seeking a candidate with excellent leadership, organization, and negotiation skills and strong analytical ability. You must have an eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a high level of computer literacy. You will oversee procurement functions and ensure the success of the procurement team. This position consistently seeks effective and streamlined pricing of all supplies and materials needed. 

Responsibilities

Procurement 

  • Optimizes the procurement of the raw materials, parts, and supplies necessary to support field electrical construction and electrical prefabrication activities consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications. Provides research, analysis, and suggestions on market conditions and product availability that may affect procurement.   
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders in the field and in the corporate office to understand requirements and lead procurement efforts from requisition to payment. Acts as a liaison to Project Managers and the Estimating Department concerning bidding, materials and purchasing needs.  Coordinate purchasing activity with the project team to ensure proper customer invoicing.   
  • Perform cost analysis and set appropriate benchmarks; track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness; prepare monthly/quarterly/annual procurement reports and present findings and reports to leadership. 

 

Administration 

  • Oversee and plan all aspects of purchasing from pre-bid to closeout. Monitor and oversee execution of the purchasing buy-out. Process requisitions and prepare purchase orders for supplies and equipment. Maintain records of goods ordered and received. Review purchase order or subcontractor claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. 

 

Vendor management 

  • Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, including the selection and development of new suppliers and vendors; oversee negotiation and contracting process (MSAs, POs, etc.) and approved suppliers list. Monitor the performance of vendors to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and price commitments 
  • Manage supplier diversity program.  

 

Leadership of procurement function: 

  • Leads a team of procurement specialists.  Develops and communicates department goals and individual team member expectations.  Lead employees using coaching, performance management, and a development process that encourages employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and career development planning.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of raw materials, parts and supplies used in electrical construction and service 
  • Extensive knowledge of purchasing policies and practices 
  • Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs 
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with vendors 
  • Proven computer skills including Blue Beam and Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with an enterprise resource planning system. JDEdwards preferred 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines 
  • Identify priorities, problems, and opportunities; quickly elicits cooperation to develop solutions in a positive and proactive manner 
  • Knowledge and working experience with writing/analyzing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation; knowledge and understanding of contract terms and conditions 
  • Think strategically and anticipate future trends, needs, and expectations 
  • A natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;  
  • Ability to convey complex and technical subjects in a clear, concise, and positive manner 
  • Strong business acumen 
  • Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects, timelines, and stakeholders 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills 

Education and Experience: 

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or a combination of relevant education and experience.   
  • Minimum of five years experience in purchasing, construction, or equivalent work/field/military experience. 

 

Salary Range: 90-140K   

 

Working Conditions:

Most of the time you will work in a typical office environment
