  • Overview

    The Welder/Tools and Equipment Technician will work with the Fabrication and Warehouse Supervisors to ensure the success of all IME projects in regards to fabrication welding and tool and equipment maintenance. The Welder/Tools and Equipment Technician will perform daily tasks, assist with day to day facilities stocking and inventory, ensure customer satisfaction, and maintain the highest level of safety pertaining to all requirements of this position. This position requires short term and long term pre-planning and close communication with IME field and project management staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Welding *Priority 1*
      • Fabricate and assemble metal items and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools
      • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
      • Maintain a clean safe work environment in the welding area by using welding screens and approach boundaries to ensure the safety of his/herself as well as others
      • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects
      • Pick up materials that IME may need to complete the project
      • Responsible for the daily inspection, care and proper maintenance of welding equipment and accessories needed to complete all welding tasks 
    • Tool or equipment order fulfillment, including QA/QC *Priority 2*
      • Verify warehouse stock of tools and equipment for new orders
      • Pulls and stages tools and QA/QC check for delivery
      • Communicates delivery ETA on each order with jobsite contacts before delivery
      • Delivers products to job sites 
    • Vehicle maintenance and transfers including QA/QC *Priority 3*
      • Assist in ensuring proper logo and decals, and current registration on all vehicles and trailers
      • Filling out Daily Vehicle inspection logs prior to operating IME vehicles
      • Perform bi-annual vehicle inspections in warehouse and on job locations as needed
      • QA/QC check on all vehicle transfers prior to delivery or issuance to new Driver
      • Install aftermarket storage and safety accessories in/on IME vehicles as needed 
    • Assist with warehouse flow and inventory management *Priority 4*
      • Assists with stocking of vending machine goods, community beverages, and trash in community areas of the facility.
    • General Office and Warehouse *priority 5*

    Assist with any warehouse or facility related tasks as determined by supervisor

    Qualifications

    • Previous welding experience required. Wire feed and stick welding. Experience welding different types of metals desired
    • Clean Driving record (3 yr. period), experience operating large stake-bed or enclosed trucks, hauling trailers and excellent knowledge of motor vehicle laws and requirements
    • Possess an excellent understanding and knowledge of Industry tools and equipment, proper maintenance and inspection.
    • Forklift experience and certification preferred
    • Possess an understanding of Lean process flow and problem solving techniques
    • Candidate will be motivated; detail oriented, and will possess strong interpersonal skills to work in a diverse, dynamic, and fast paced environment.
    • Candidate must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in IME’s business strategies.
    • Must communicate information and state problems of challenges to be resolved in a clear, concise, courteous, nondiscriminatory and professional manner, and be able to provide clarification as necessary.

    Working conditions:

    • Job requires working on your feet, 8 to 10 hours daily up to 6 days a week.
    • Candidate will be expected to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
    • May be required to work from all types of ladders, stepladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders.
    • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, cut resistant gloves, welding gloves, masks, welding helmet, earplugs and respirators).
    • Follow special procedures including contamination control, noise control, building systems awareness and procedures.
    • Candidate must be able to work night shifts and mid shifts, as required by customers.
    • Respond to short notice requirements.
