    Oversee daily productivity and effectively delegate the estimating duties and customer service activities amongst estimating team. The ideal candidate can estimate complex commercial and industrial electrical projects to IME standards. Responsible for oversight of QA/QC of all estimates prior to submission to client. Drives decision making on whether a project falls within IME’s goals, specialty and capacity.


    • Update and maintain Estimating Software Program, including modifications to database.
    • Make high-level decisions involving the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in reviewing, clarifying, validating and addressing prospective projects with the V.P. of Preconstruction, Business Development Directors / Preconstruction Manager in a manner that ensures the achievement of established ratio of volume awarded to bid volume.
    • Exhibits discretion in reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting bid documents to determine Scope of Work and uses independent judgment to formulate the estimating approach and bid strategy in a manner that enables the attainment of awarded projects within contract quotes.
    • Heavily interacts with vendors, suppliers, GCs, customers and other company departments to resolve issues during design and/or pre-bid
    • Mentor, support, train and oversee the daily tasks of team members as needed
    • Review drawings, specifications and all other construction documents and communicate issues, accuracy of information, and potential risks. Offer risk mitigation plans.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in scheduling complete Preconstruction efforts
    • Responsible for the accuracy of estimates and assists with suggestions for modifications and QA/QC of estimates
    • Regularly attend and participate in design meetings and contribute to the development of scope-of-work documents
    • Assure that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with senior management


    • Ability to estimate large commercial and industrial electrical projects (values up to $50MM)
    • Must understand the entire electrical construction process from design through project close-out for large commercial and industrial projects
    • Ability to manage a team of 3-5 estimators in alignment with goals set forth by IME
    • Advanced knowledge of Estimating Techniques and ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
    • Must have ability to prepare and perform QA/QC on complex proposals in alignment with IME goals
    • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices
    • Understanding of building codes, labor requirements and licensing needs for local and out-of-state project pursuits.
    • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam and Accubid/Livecount
    • Develop and maintain relationships with project management team, operations team, clients, general contractors, vendors and suppliers
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to interpret the project schedule to identify required equipment delivery dates, pricing, submittals, approval and procurement schedules as needed for preconstruction efforts.

    Working Conditions:

    Your time will be primarily spent working in a typical office environment, with occasional construction site and pre-construction/job-walk visits. While at construction sites, you will encounter conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.
